SDW remodeled two upstairs spaces, transforming one into a master suite with a reading room and attached sleeping chamber and the other into a child’s room. The master bedroom suite changed an attic space into a sleeping chamber and turned the existing bedroom into a library/sitting room. The child’s room includes a built-in captain’s bed with shelving and drawers below. Custom low-voltage lighting, custom cabinetry, and vaulted ceilings add to the dramatic use of space. Both rooms incorporate lighting niches to illuminate glass shelving below. Vaulting the ceilings increased the height of the original low, flat attic ceilings to maximize the feeling of spaciousness without altering the roof structure.
